Fred West's crimes went undetected for 20 years until the police started to investigate the disappearance of his daughter, Heather in February 1994.
In their garden at 25 Cromwell Street, Glouctershire, the gruesome story started to unfold. In total the bodies of nine young women were found. More were found buried on a windswept hill some miles away. Fred and Rosemary West were charged with nine murders, but while awaiting trial in prison, Fred West hung himself in his cell.
